If you are at the beginning stage of your business, you have probably done a load of research and gone through more than a few (paid or free) trainings on business and marketing.

It seems the more information you gather, the more articles your read, the more confused you get!

What do I do with this keyword research thing again?
How about SEO for my (yet to be built) website?
Should I do Facebook ads?
What to do with this list building and email marketing thing?
Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram or [social media platform du jour]?
Should I hit some networking events?

STOP! Those things are NOT your fastest path to cash, and will not build a solid foundation for you so leave them aside for now and plug them in later.

What to do instead?

Take a moment, dig into yourSELF and find the answers that will drive the direction and the success of your business, and give you the FIRE and the GUMPTION to step up and stick with it.

Here are 4 keys to build a solid foundation for a soulfully sustainable business (with a lot of personality!) and illuminate you the fastest path to cash:

Key #1 – Find Your Big WHY, WHAT, WHO and HOW

Before you start, check other people’s idea of “success” or “what a ______ business should look like” or “what is lucrative”, plus your own preconception and judgment (especially those of yourself) at the door.

Answer these questions honestly:

  • Why the heck did you go into business in the first place? (Be selfish here. No body is judging, you don’t have to save the world.)
  • What do you want your business to do FOR you?
  • What is your passion and conviction? What are YOU about? What riles you up? What makes you angry about your industry?
  • What are your superpowers?
  • How are you going to blend desires, conviction, superpowers altogether and express it fully in your business so your personality shines through?
  • Who do you want to work with that will really light you up? Don’t give me women 25-45, because I don’t think all women 25-45 will light you up.
  • How does your conviction apply to these people? How can your superpowers serve them in a way that others can’t?
  • Who do you want to BE for them?


Key #2 – Define YOUR Lucrative Niche

Niche seems to be a buzzword in business coaching these days but sadly some trainings seem to make us detour more than help us focus.

When you have defined your big WHY, WHAT, WHO and HOW, your niche should be pretty apparent. Secret to making it work is to make it more than a writing exercise and actually OWN IT.

That means you have to find the GUTS to step up and claim this new Identity you have crafted for yourself. You have to overcome the fears that keep you in the land of conformity. You have to BE that person you want to be for your peeps.

When you get to the bottom of it and find YOUR passion and vision, you will also nail that CONVICTION from the GUTS that leads to COMMITMENT, which fuels the GUMPTION to “stick with it” and make it happen – which is usually what separates the successful from the masses.


Key #3 – Translate Your Vision and Strength Into a Profitable Business Model

From your HOW and your WHO emerges a business model that leverages your strength, allows you to live the life you want and brings the most value to your peeps.

  • In what ways your strength and superpowers is best expressed? (Coaching? Speaking? Writing? Teaching?)
  • What do you suck at? (Don’t build a business that requires you to do them often, even if someone says you “have to.”)
  • What is the best “delivery mechanism” based on the needs of your ideal clients?
  • How do you want to live your life?

After you have determined how to structure your business to deliver the best value (that’s what people pay for – value and results), you want to run the numbers and make sure that it will bring in the income to make you feel good.


Key #4 – Have Something To Sell (Duh!)

This is the fastest path to cash bit. If you don’t have something to sell and be able to confidently sell it, you won’t be making money – plain and simple.

And it’s crazy so many people lose sight of it.

Your product, service or program needs to reflect your WHO (your ideal clients’ needs and wants), your HOW (your superpowers and secret sauce) and of course, your value as an expert in your field.

The more personality you put into your offering, the more unique it will be, which means you have a better chance to stand out, beat competition and command a premium price.

To confidently sell your stuff, your best bet is to clearly communicate how it brings value to your clients – crafting your signature system is a great way to gain clarity and have a piece of good marketing communication to show for.

Then you need to get comfortable selling. That means having a process you take people through, and the money mindset behind it so you don’t let your fears and other mental junk get in the way when the rubber meets the road – i.e. during your sales conversation.

To build a solid foundation and find your fastest path to cash involve more self-reflection and mindset work than most business and marketing trainings care to talk about.

As you can see, we do need the inner work to get to the ultra-clarity, then formulate it into an Identity you can claim and translate it into an offering that sells while allowing all of your individuality and personality to shine through for a business you can call your own.
